When Payten was 4 months old, I started doing baby sign language with her. She did her first sign, "more" when she was 8 months! Now, she does about 10 signs. I haven't taught her more than that. The last two weeks or so, she's really really been signing. It's AMAZING! She can talk, but now signs instead. :) Either way, I'm thrilled because I can understand her. It's so great!
I have been so fasinated by baby sign language that I have invested in two books. One Sesame Street sign book for Payten, and a Signing guide for Idiots, for me. I am really really excited to start something that I'm becoming very passionate about! Let's here it for Sign Language! :)

I used sign language with both of the boys and it was a life saver at times! I made up some on my own that only the two of us knew what it meant. I didn't invest in the books like you;)
I have used sign language w/ all my babies, I love it. It helps w/ communication and I think it is great for the little ones. I have one book and D will often look at it and teach himself new signs.
Maddie really took to sign language. More was her first sign too. We had about 10 signs. Becca didn't like it so much. She just grunted. I kept trying with her, but she just didn't care that much, I guess. But it is such a lifesaver at times. I love that you are doing it with Payten. Keep it up- it may become a lifetime love for her.
